Biography


Elaine Garduno Wilber passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in Springfield, Va.
Elaine was born August 3, 1958 to Hilario Garduno and Alice Garduno.
Elaine is survived by her husband Scott Wilber, daughter Sarah and son Christopher of Springfield Va., sisters and brothers: Pita Garcia, Caroline Roane (Tom), Alfonso Garduno, Rita Martinez (John), Jose Garduno, Lita Saunders (Jim), Lorraine Leger, Leonard Garduno (Eloise), Joanna Garduno, Rick Garduno (Carla), and Ron Garduno (Bonnie). Her sister-in-law Linda Land, and brothers-in-law Jeffery Wilber and Craig Wilber.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parent, Hilario and Alice, her brothers Larry Garduno and Lawrence Garduno, sisters Geraldine Garduno and infant sister Elaine Garduno, nephew John Martinez, brother-in-law Jesus Garcia, father-in-law Arthur Lee Wilber, mother-in-law Elaine Wilber and sister-in-law Susan Martin.

Upon graduation from WLVHS at age 17, Elaine and several girlfriends flew to Washington DC to begin an adverturesome life. She worked for several federal government agencies before being hired to work in the White House during the Ronald Reagan's Presidency. During her 8 years of service to Vice President George H. W. Bush, she traveled all over the world experiencing the cultures and political events of the day. A wonderful storyteller of her adventures during those years captivated the many out of town visitors who were blessed to have her as a hostess. She never tired of sharing interesting historical tidbits of many of the landmarks and memorials found in the DC area and was a terrific tour guide to all who visited her in DC.

Elaine loved her children and a more devoted mom would be hard to find. She encouraged and supported all of their interests, most of which dealt with sports. She will be fondly remembered by all the nieces and nephew she doted and loved on. Her home was always open to her family and their friends and she relished entertaining out of town guest. Elaine was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and co-worker who never failed to share a smile or a hug. She will be immensely missed by all who knew her. Unit we meet again, Vaya Con Dios.

Elaine's wish was to be brought back to Santa Fe, a place she loved. A viewing will take place on Thursday June 18, 2015 at 6:00 PM with rosary to follow at 7:00 PM at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church on Richards Avenue. Mass will be Friday June 19, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church with burial at Memorial Gardens, Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
