Ernestine Mary Duran

Ernestine M. Duran, age 83, a resident of Santa Fe, NM went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, November 23, 2015. Ernestine was born on December 11, 1931 and was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandma and great-grandma who passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side. Ernestine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Faustin Duran, son Phillip Duran, parents Brigido and Amalia Tafoya, sister Felonic Gonzales and brothers Joe Tafoya, Leo Tafoya and Arthur Tafoya. Ernestine is survived by her daughter Mary Maestas and husband Bryan, granddaughter Marisa Maestas, grandson Brandon Duran and girlfriend Amber, great-grandson Isaiah Duran, sister Gertrude Tafoya, sister Mary Tafoya, sister-in-laws Nora Tafoya and Fannie Tafoya. Ernestine also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Prior to her retirement Ernestine worked as a nurse for over 40 years, was a Parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church and was the light and gift to those who knew her. Ernestine loved her family, took great pride in her rose garden and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, especially seeing her grandkids. A big smile would appear every time she would see them. She will forever be loved and greatly missed. A visitation for Ernestine will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Rivera Family Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00pm followed by a rosary at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 9:00am at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community Church followed by a Christian burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30am. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Marisa Maestas, Brandon Duran, Steven Tafoya, Patrick Tafoya, Alex Tafoya, and Julian Tafoya.
