Biography


Jerry H. Hicks passed tragically in a motorcycle accident to be with our Lord on Sunday August 7th, 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, son, friend and nephew. He lit up every room he entered with his laughter and love. Always willing to help anyone and everyone including a stranger.He is preceded in death by his grandparents Herbert & Monnie Hicks and Jerry G. & Mary Aranda and will be laid to rest next to his Aunt Rebecca Alavarez.Jerry is survived by his wife Michelle Hicks of Santa Fe, NM; daughters McKayla, 18, Abrianna, 17, and Alicia, 13, and special niece, Kayleen, whom he considered a daughter, of Santa Fe, NM; parents Geraldine Aranda Hicks and Richard Hicks Sr.; siblings Barbara Anchondo (Ray), Richard Hicks Jr. (Sha), and Steven Hicks (Bonnie) of Santa Fe, NM; father and mother-in-law Gilbert and Edwina Montano; brother and sister-in-laws Albert Montano (Michelle), Karen Lucero (Bernard), and Daniel Montano. Godchildren: Kymina Anchondo, Jeremy Trujillo, Kayla Hicks, Shannon Lee Hicks, Caruso D'Angelico and many nieces, nephews, and special aunts, uncles and friends.Jerry met his high school sweetheart working together at the young age of 15 then married her, the love of his life on July 17, 1999 at the age of 22. They have three beautiful daughters.He was the proud owner of Hicks Enterprise, LLC which he founded nearly 10 years ago. He also enjoyed following Michelle with her dream of owning Rainbow Snow. He loved doing events so he could see and visit with everyone who purchased a shaved ice.Jerry loved motorcycles and raced motocross avidly since he was a young man until his mid 20's. He moved on to a Harley and loved being on the road with Michelle by his side on her bike.Jerry loved sports, played tennis, basketball, baseball and football where he wore the #17 as St. Michael's High School quarterback. He will be honored this school year by his nephew. Tyler Hicks, who will be #17 for the Belen High School football team.He was a proud father. loved to hear McKayla sing and play the piano. She will have an angel by her side as she attends UNM this year. Abrianna was truly a daddy's girl and will miss their bonding talks and special moments as she enters her senior year of high school. Alicia Marie, his angel, as she enters her freshman year, he will continue to guide her and be her angel. Jerry will be deeply missed by all.Pallbearers are Richard Hicks, Steven Hicks, Ray Anchondo, Albert Montano, Daniel Montano & Eric Gonzales.Honorary Pallbearers are Fathers Richard Hicks & Gilbert Montano. Along with a small portion of his closest friends and family Dion D'Angelico, Jeremy Trujillo, Kevin Johnson, Ernie Baldonado, Eric Sanchez, David Martinez, Joe Fuentes, Paul Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Jerome Block, Ernie Vigil and Dobh Graystone.Services to be celebrated: Rosary on Sunday, August 14th at Santa Maria de la Paz, 11 College Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87507, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, August 15th at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Maria de la Paz. You will be sorely missed, my friend. Vici and I first met you when you were just 6 years old and you practically grew up at our house as one of our sons.
